What To Do When You Have Snakes

Snakes are actually great creatures to have in a garden as they will eat small rodents like mice and rats but if you are dealing with venomous snakes, it can be a completely different problem. Snakes are very territorial and they will bite and inject venom, which can kill you or at least make you incredibly sick for weeks. Always seek medical assistance for a snake bite, especially if you are not sure which type of snake you are dealing with.

If you hate walking outside to see garden snakes on your lawn, you can remove them with some simple pest control tips. Here are some things to know and remember when you are dealing with snakes:

  • Never provoke a snake. Even if it’s a water snake or a garden snake, it will still strike. What happens if you are provoking a venomous snake? Be careful when dealing with snakes so you don’t upset them and cause them to strike. To see a list of common snakes in your area and how to trap them visit www.Lapestcontrolpros.com.
  • Use snake traps to capture them. A stick will work along with a thick bag like a burlap bag. There are snake sticks you can purchase that have a hook on the end, making it easier to grab them and then move them into the bag.
  • Remove the amount of foliage you have on your property. Snakes love to hide under bushes and they are attracted to the cool cover it provides. By reducing the amount of foliage you have around your home, snakes are less likely to make a home here.
  • Install a fence that is flush with the ground. This will prevent snakes from coming into your yard. You do need to make sure there are no gaps that snakes can fit through with the fence line.

If you can’t prevent snakes from coming and they are invading your property you will need to contact a certified LA Pest exterminator to come out and capture the snakes and remove them.
