Waiting for a Vintage Barbie Doll

I’ve been collecting antique and vintage dolls since I was little, but only started to focus on Barbie dolls around the mid 1980s.  I spent a lot of money on dolls still in the box that I’m hoping will pay off later, but I’m not sure what to expect because those dolls were made specifically for collectors to buy and often those do not appreciate in value like you would hope.  Since many of the buyers are collectors, those dolls are probably still sitting in boxes, unopened and the mint condition models are not getting scarce like they do when little girls actually play Barbies and do things like customize the makeup and re-do their hair styles.  Oh well, they are paid for and they didn’t really cost that much.  Maybe they will be worth something if I pass them on to my kids.  Someone will be looking to find vintage dolls for sale when they get older.
