Pollution And Eczema
Everyday the news and media sources around the world herald warnings about the dangerous effects of pollution. Pollution is wrecking havoc on the environment. What may surprise you is that pollution is also wrecking havoc on your eczema.
Automobile exhaust, industrial byproducts, animal methane, smoke, evaporated chemicals, ozone, dust, and thousands of other particles fill up the air we breathe. In major cities and urban areas, the environmental atmosphere is saturated with these substances. However, rural areas are no longer safe from pollution.
With pollution surrounding you constantly, it is no wonder that your health suffers. People are often plagued with asthma and other internal health problems. Your skin is exposed to the pollution all day long. The pollution dries out your skin. It coats the skin in known eczema triggers, allergens, and irritants.
It only takes a slight amount of exposure to pollution to cause eczema. One of the first affects is eczema eye. This is because your eyelids are very delicate. The eyelid area produces a lot of oil and your tear ducts produce continual moisture. This oil and moisture traps the pollution on your skin where it attacks the skin cells until there is an eczema flare up.
There are several different natural remedies for eczema that are appropriate to counteract the effects of pollution. Your first step should be to control your environment as much as possible using personal air filters at home, work, and in your car. The next step is to frequently apply a thick coat of moisturizer to all of your skin that is exposed to pollution, including your face, hands, neck, and arms. This moisturizer will act like a barrier against the pollution.
There may never be a dramatic reduction in pollution within our lifetime. However, you can control your exposure to the pollution that surrounds you. If you can protect your skin against pollution you will be able to protect it against eczema.
