Cheap Gaming Laptops – Do They Even Exist?

Laptops are more popular than ever; they’ve been on the rise in popularity for the last decade and this naturally draws the consequence, that some notebooks will be designed for different applications. Some people can’t care less if their notebook works off battery for more than two hours, some people are turned off by the idea of notebooks weighing more than 5 lbs and some people are purchasing their notebook to play games on.

This sounds contradictory with the basic idea of the notebook. The notebook was originally meant to be a portable piece of computing device with integrated processor, video card, sound card, monitor, and just about everything a desktop computer had as either an internal or external part. Gamers tend to add another item to the definition they prefer; the notebook should give a good enough performance to be able to run games.

Cheap gaming laptops are on demand ever since this category popped its head up, and there is no good solution to the problem so far. The notebook is bound to be more expensive than its desktop counterpart, because the same performance costs more to install in a smaller case. There are different problems to overcome while adding extra performance to the same size, too. In a desktop computer a processor can be changed to a more expensive, more powerful one, and that is the last time you will ever open the case for a few years to come.

Not so in the gaming computer, first of all the processor is soldered on the motherboard. Reason for this is that this way there is no need to spend extra weight and space on the socked mechanism itself, though the processor is not changeable. Most people are not aware of the problem and they shouldn’t, either, a gaming notebook is always balancing on the edge.

The cooling system is perfectly calibrated to heat dissipation of the main components if there was anything to be changed, it could easily go overboard in consumption and damage the components, which is to be avoided with a piece of hardware that costs $2000.

There is no such thing as an inexpensive gaming laptop, but cheap ones are available. Refurbished and renew models for those who don’t really mind using used computers as long as these are in a good condition and of top performance. These computers are relatively cheap for what they provide, but they’re far from inexpensive. A $1000 gamer notebook may be considered cheap, but when you compare it to a brand new $500 value notebook it is anything but inexpensive.

Choosing one is actually easier than you might think as there are a very few notebook manufacturers who take their time to design and make a notebook for the gamer community. Asus, Alienware and MSI are the top three to mention, with Asus and MSI being the cheapest of all three, and Alienware being for the enthusiasts.
